Hungry?

Well thanks to everyone that chimed in on my last blog regarding feeding the hungry. But as of today, I have a new rule.
IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE YOUR NAME, I WILL NOT READ YOUR COMMENT. I know somethings are more 'provocative' topics than others, but if you can't leave your name don't bother commenting.

Now, I want to be much more specific today. I don't want to focus on American homlessness/hunger. I want to talk about worldwide hunger. Though I have only been to one place with poor food conditions, I can say without doubt that many many countries are in need of help. There are 10's of millions of children alone that are very much starving each day (not to mention adults and teens that rarely get mentioned). In traveling to the Dominican Republic, I found many many people there that are helping to make conditions better. We travel to a city dump each summer to hand out food, clothing, toys, etc. It is humbling and heartbreaking each time. They actually live in the dump (other people's trash) and eat whatever they can find (other people's trash) or whatever is brought to them. My question is how can we here help people in other places? What way can be bring this issue more to the forefront in our churches, schools, etc.? Also, how can we help people see this issue as more than just a 'lack of money' issue? Let's hear it...just leave your name at the end of the comment please!!

Hungry

I just read a short article from the USA Today about the National Prayer Breakfast. Bono spoke as well as President Bush. They mostly spoke about prayer and its role in our nation but Bono broke off topic a bit and challenge the United States to give 1% of its national budget to feed the poor and homeless. It made me think. How do I feel about world hunger? How do I feel about the hunger I see here in the US? Do I even think about it?

Do you think about it? Do you place a premium on helping those in need? I mean those that don't have homes or food to eat? What is your stance on this subject? Let's hear it people.
